My chrysler 300c srt8 2006 engine is making a funny whinning noise. I took it to Eldorado Chrysler in McKinney and they told me that the mobile one oil that the owner manual tells you to use is not the right one. They told me that in needed to use mobile one 15w50. Has anybody had the same problem? Has anybody used Eldorado Chrysler in McKinney and are they a compedent group of mechanics?
Thanks

Welcome to the Club!
as for El Dorado, they've hooked me up with warranty issues. I've had no problems with them in that department. they also do my oil changes. :D

Pinky,
If I were you, I would try another dealer before changing oil, there has been several threads on various forums that talk about the Mobil 1 oil, Most end up siding with Mobil 1
Try Grubbs Chrysler Jeep in Bedford, Ask for Corey Burkhart

15W50? Im not sure about the SRT8's, but the 5.7s use 5W20. What does the cap on the oil fill say?

Cap says to ONLY use Mobil 1, there is no TSB calling for new Oil

I would be REAL careful before switching to a heavier oil - verify, verify, verify.
We arent talking about a slight change here - 5w-20 to 15w50 is a HUGE difference.
A quick google search shows the SRT8 using the same oil as the Hemi - 5w20 (or in some threads 0w20).
I personally have a hard time believing that a whining noise is being caused by oil anyway. (of course I havent heard it.....)

The book for my son's SRT8 says 0 W 40 and the book for my Daytona and my wife's R/T says 5 W 20. I would be very careful about changing it that much.

supposedly, there is a bulletin that came out to switch to the full synthetic 15w50 for the 6.1L Hemi.
