Today a woman dropped off her `07 charger for me to replace the A/C condenser because it is leaking. While removing it I noticed the cause of the leak. The air diffuser, in front of the condensor, behind the fascia and on the right side has been rubbing the condenser. It rubbed holes through the tubes so the freon leaked out. I started looking for reasons why the diffuser would be touching the condenser and couldn`t see any body repairs nor previous mechanical repairs which would have caused the diffuser to be sitting so close.

Realizing that it seems to be a manufacturing problem and could potentially be a problem in other chargers I went outside and checked mine. It is leaking also and the diffuser is sitting exactly the same as the customers car I`m working on. I took pictures and a short video.

In this you can see the wet spot on the condenser under the bumper.

This is the air diffuser hitting the condenser:

In this video you can see the diffuser hitting the condenser. I pulled it back and then put it back where it sits when mounted properly. Not good.

Check your cars folks. This condenser was over 300 dollars MY cost. Retail is much higher. If you are under warranty and yours is leaking go get it fixed A.S.A.P.

Here`s a video showing where to check your car for this problem.

I`m not sure, Sandi. I would have to look at one to see if they have the same set up. I doubt it though.

Anyone else had this issue? I think I'm gonna head to Grubbs this week for an oil change and have them check it out.

I had Frank Kent Dodge check mine out last weekend. They said (and showed me) there was nothing like this going on on mine. I let them see the videos and text of the intial post so they knew first hand what to look for.

There was several people on the chargerforumZ that had the same rub issues. So far nobody else had theirs rub all the way through yet but in time they would have.
