Im looking to upgrade my cd player to a nav type dvd stereo. does the factory nav on the r/t play dvd's on the screen or not. i know there is an option to get that dvd screen in the center console but im just looking for an in dash dvd player. wondering if it would be cheaper to find a r/t one somewhere or just buy a new one from bestbuy or something

depends on exactly what you want.

The MyGig is a great unit and can be bought new on eBay for about $800 or so. There are (from what I understand) some modifications that need to be made to the wiring and the dash to make it fit properly in a pre-08 model.

Personally, from a simple "ease of installation" point of view, I would consider something aftermarket.
A lot of people have the Pioneer Avic and are quite happy with it. I have seen them for as little as $500.
Find what you want, then shop around at sites like Crutchfield.

You could likely install it yourself with only a wiring adapter and dash adapter in a couple of hours.

I say aftermarket, but thats just because the aftermarket seems to have better toys.
Besides the normal Nav and DVD, you can get back up cameras, traffic, MSN direct.........

No matter what, unless you want a pop-up screen it looks like some dash modification is in your future.

yup but there are nav and non nav versions.
I have the non nav, and keeping my eye out for a nav upgrade.

I am pretty sure that installing the MyGig would require some fairly significant modification.
Check on the Z - there are several members that have done it and could tell you for sure.
