Royal Purple now makes a 0w40!

this has been a long time coming. I went to my oil guy here in Frisco (I know Rev, I know) asking for Mobil, he ignored me and brought out a brand new purple box of 0w40. <it was a moment>:Wow1:

OK, my turn to ask a stupid question.....

why 0w40?
what engine are you running this in.... and why.

I am not trying to call anyone out or say its wrong, I just dont know the specifics.

6.1 - 06 SRT8 Magnum. SRT8 have to use 0w40 or 10w50 (if you live up north).

I am a big RP fan have been for years. When I was racing cross country dirt bikes we decreased our maintenance intervals 6X. went from 6 top ends per bike per season to 1! That is pretty awesome and I was crazy about maintenance and never had a DNF due to a mechanical in 5 years which is a feat in it's self.

As far as cars go and the SRT specifically, if you are going to leave your oil in for 7K miles plus then RP makes sense. If you are going to do this buy the K&N filters while you are at it.

If you are going to change your oil every 3-5K find a good synthetic that is not $10/qt and buy a good WIX filter. Valvoline makes great products. The Valvoline SYNpower 5-40 would be a great choice.

FYI - RP has had the 5-40 out for a long time and the 0-40 for the better part of a year.


I was again amazed by Valvoline 3 weeks ago at Hallett raceway where I saw a 750hp supercharged road race Z06 run 7 heat runs and a final (7+hrs at full tilt) with 16psi of oil pressure and not hurt the motor running Valvoline VR1 Racing oil. AMAZING!!!!!

FYI - Mobil 1 is total crap. It is great marketing and junk oil.

I could type about junk like this for days but, in the end, you will buy what you are comfortable with and that is cool just please do not buy Mobile 1!!! LOL
