View Full Version : Exhaust for my 3.5L
So I'm sure you guys get this question all the time but I'm new here so I'll plead ignorance. Basically I need to know what kind of exhaust to go with. I was out cruisin the other day and a white 3.5L charger pulled up next to me, I rolled down the window (he was paying a lot more attention to his music than anything else) when we took off his car was pretty quiet but I could tell he had some kind of exhaust on it. Eventually we got going about 55 and I decided I was going to blow around him which I did and I felt pretty good about it. Than he took off and you could really hear the engine it was awesome and I was very jealous. So that is exactly what I'm looking for. Something that is relatively quiet until you really get on it. I don't want anything too loud when I'm just cruisin. Also if someone knows where in the area I can get it done and a basic price range that would be awesome. I am new to the whole car thing this is the first car I have ever owned and the first vehicle I've had that wasn't made in the mid 90's!! Thanks for you help guys I really appreciate it!

Iceman, those 40's aren't loud an 'normal' speeds on the LX? I had 40 series on my truck and it drove me crazy after about a week.

Yeah they are too loud on the interior of the car, even after I had the whole rear end done in dynamat!!

Yeah the 40's are pretty aggressive. I have them on my RT but I like hearing the rumble. 2nd gear is kind of rough, but I guess I got used to it. Hey Zigz, you might take a look at Magnaflow. They have some good sounds. I had one on my Grand Prix and it wasn't too loud but just right. Or like Iceman mentioned, the Blastin Bobs is a great setup too.

Oh no worries. I was worried about that same issue. I told the guy no bumble bee exhaust cans and he hooked me up with a good setup, sounded like a grand national! Well to me it did.

Here's your most cost-effective option:
Find a Daytona exhaust someone has taken off and buy it. It'll range anywhere from free to $150. Mecha sold his for under $100 recently; I got mine for $60 with some decent looking tips already on it. Have it installed and it'll run you about $150-200, but that's WITH extra parts you'll need to get (exhaust hangers from the dealer, stick-on heat shield material from an auto parts store, etc). Quiet until you get on it, has a nice tone at idle (this was actually told to me by the club prez when we went to Austin last year and stopped for bug removal). If it's too quiet, have the center muffler cut out and either experiment with some aftermarket mufflers or just replace it with straight pipes.

Not everyone has close to a grand to drop on some pipes, bro. Hell, if I had a grand, period, I would spend it on the house instead of the car.
Or the 3.5L heads FRI is making *cough*

That and the only Zoomers exhaust for the 3.5L is single-tip, I believe.
